8th annual Gilda’s Run scheduled for October 4th at 10:30 am

(Middleton, WI) Gilda’s Run, presented by TASC Cares, is a 5K run/2 mile walk and an important fundraiser for Gilda’s Club Madison, our local Cancer Support Community. The event takes place this year on Sunday, October 4th at 10:30 AM and kicks off at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Middleton. Participants wind through the beautiful Pheasant Branch Conservancy before ending in the Gilda’s Club backyard. When participants reach the finish, they’ll be treated to a party featuring live music, freshly grilled Ruth’s Chris hamburgers and Culver’s Frozen Custard Sundaes.

Gilda’s Club relies on events like Gilda’s Run to fund programs and activities that are always offered at no charge to anyone facing any kind of cancer and those who care for them. Gilda’s Club programs are critical to the men, women and children they serve; however the value of Gilda’s Club programming is best communicated by members like Roy:

“I don’t think I could have survived my cancer without going to Gilda’s Club every Tuesday for my support group. Cancer has a lot of physical challenges but there are even more mental challenges. Gilda’s helps a lot with those mental challenges.”

“At Gilda’s Club you learn a lot about yourself, about the disease, and how other people cope with it. I’m sure you may have listened to Bob Dylan the song “shelter from the storm.” That’s just what Gilda’s has been for me, a shelter from the storm of cancer. That storm can stop you in your tracks but you have to go on with your life. That’s really hard sometimes and that’s what Gilda’s helps you with.”

Participants can learn more and join the event by calling 608-828-8880 or by visiting www.GildasClubMadison.org. Gilda’s Run 2015 is presented by TASC Cares, and sponsored by Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
