Menomonie, Wis. — A free training program, Responding to Hate and Bias on Campus and in the

Community, will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at University of Wisconsin-Stout.



The training will be facilitated by the Southern Poverty Law Center based in Montgomery, Ala., and is in

response to a recent incident in Menomonie involving a UW-Stout student and a community member.



Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Glass Lounge of Merle M. Price Commons, 1110 S.

Broadway St. It is open to adult members of the Menomonie community and UW-Stout students, faculty and

staff.



Participation is limited to 35 people. After the maximum is reached, a waiting list will be formed.



The deadline for registration is Monday, Dec. 22. To register, refer to Multicultural Student Services at

www.uwstout.edu/services/multicultural.



When accepting participants for the training, an ethnic and social balance will be considered.



Participants also may apply to serve on a new university outreach team to support survivors of bias and

hate.



The program is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, Multicultural Student Services, the LGBTQ

Program Office and Ally Initiatives.
