Schenck Hosting Workshop on New Federal Grant Reforms for Government and Not-for-Profit Entities

WISCONSIN – Schenck will be hosting workshops in November and December entitled “Implementing the New Federal Grant Reforms Efficiently.” Schenck is offering this seminar to assist not-for-profit organizations, cities, counties, schools and technical colleges in the implementation of the new guidance. Finance office employees and employees who oversee compliance and financial reporting functions should attend.

Eight federal grant-making regulations have been streamlined into a single, comprehensive policy guide, called the Omni Circular, which will be effective December 26, 2014. The Omni Circular will increase competition for grant funds, reform administrative requirements and cost principles, and impact the audits and financial reporting of organizations receiving federal awards, either directly or from pass through agencies.

The Omni Circular was established so the federal government can better administer grants and other types of financial assistance by decreasing the administrative burden for recipients and reducing the risk of waste, fraud and abuse. It will require government and not-for-profit organizations to review and possibly revise their existing policies and internal controls. This is part of a larger effort to reform and strengthen federal grant-making and ensure the financial integrity of taxpayer dollars.

The workshops will be presented by David Maccoux, CPA, and Wendy Mallo, CPA; both members of Schenck’s Government and Not-for-Profit team. Attendees will leave this seminar with a game plan, including action steps to implement this new guidance.
