Amy Mendel-Clemens to Oversee County’s Economic Assistance, Work Services Efforts

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced today that Amy Mendel-Clemens will lead the division of Dane County Human Services responsible for helping people get back to work and assisting them with various forms of economic assistance.

Mendel-Clemens has been named Division Administrator for the Dane County Department of Human Services’ Economic Assistance and Work Services.

Mendel-Clemens has over 20 years experience in economic assistance programming, including as an Economic Support Specialist for Dane County between 1992 and 1999.

“Amy’s extensive experience in working with programs like W-2, Food Share, Medical Assistance, and Emergency Assistance have her well-suited to make sure families who fall on hard times can access the help they need to get back on their feet,” Human Services Director Lynn Green said.

“Given the continued financial hardships that too many families are facing, she’s the perfect person to oversee the important work of getting moms and dads back to being economically self-sufficient,” Green added.

Most recently, Mendel-Clemens has served as a Health Care Supervisor for the State of Wisconsin’s Division of Health Care Access and Accountability. There, she oversaw planning and implementation of special projects for the Division’s Income Maintenance offices in both Madison and Milwaukee.

Mendel-Clemens’ first day will be February 28, 2011. Her starting salary will be $87,568.
