Shorewood, Wis., January 26, 2011 – The Shorewood Business Improvement District today announced that it has signed a one-year marketing contract with P.K. Wheeler Communications, a marketing communications firm based in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

The board began a comprehensive review of its marketing program last fall and in December received 10 proposals from firms and individuals interested in managing the BID’s marketing efforts. The BID’s marketing program includes special events, media relations and communication materials. The marketing contract was finalized at today’s meeting of the BID board of directors.

Paula Wheeler, principal of P.K. Wheeler Communications, has coordinated a team of independent marketing professionals to work on the contract’s multi-faceted scope. Team members include event planner Julie Stolper-Dieckelman, media relations consultant Christel Henke and graphic designer Dan Koller. Wheeler, Henke and Koller are Shorewood residents. Stolper-Dieckelman, of Pewaukee, brings external perspective and over 20 years of experience coordinating high-profile events.

“As Shorewood continues to grow as a vibrant destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, we are pleased to partner with a specialized marketing team that will help local businesses continue to attract Shorewood residents as well as shoppers in nearby communities,” said BID Executive Director Jim Plaisted.

Wheeler and her team look forward to collaborating with BID members and the community. “We are excited to advance the BID’s progress in positioning Shorewood as a retail and services destination for everyday and specialty needs,” she said. “Shorewood’s location offers a unique blend of urban and suburban sensibility that we can leverage as we build a strong marketing presence.”

The Shorewood Business Improvement District was established by commercial property owners and the Village of Shorewood in 1999 to promote the neighborhood as a premier destination for retail and service businesses to locate and thrive.
