MADISON, Wis. – Dane County’s free Henry Vilas Zoo and the Friends of the Zoo once again present their signature Halloween event and fundraiser, Halloween at the Zoo.

Halloween at the Zoo is a community celebration that offers free trick-or-treating, a fun house activity tent, live music, and more for the entire family. Throughout the years, the event has proven itself to be a steadfast and community-supported tradition. Local police and fire agencies endorse it as “a neat place to meet for a safe trick-or-treat.”

This year’s event will take place Sunday, October 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can look forward to special additions to the animal exhibits, such as scarecrows, pumpkins, and other surprises throughout the day.

The Friends of the Zoo will be providing free parking and free shuttle busses to the zoo from the corner of Wingra St. and Park St. throughout the day. This is a new initiative to better accommodate visitors and avoid the hassle of finding a parking spot. The wheelchair-accessible busses will be running every 10-15 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Since its inception in 1987, Halloween at the Zoo has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the Henry Vilas Zoo. Most recently, the event raised money to benefit the Zoo Century campaign, a fundraising initiative intended to complete major zoo renovations. The net proceeds from Halloween at the Zoo this year will go towards constructing the much-anticipated Arctic Passage exhibit, a new home for the polar bears and seals.

Halloween at the Zoo is presented by Associated Bank and supported by local business, organizations and families from across Dane County. For more information about the event, please visit http://www.vilaszoo.org.
