Save the date for Historic Milwaukee Inc.’s (HMI) 4th annual Remarkable Milwaukee dinner event. This year Johnson Controls will be honored at the event on Monday, October 18th at the Pfister Hotel in the historic Imperial Ballroom. Johnson Control’s legacy and innovations are intrinsically connected to Milwaukee’s heritage and the built environment world over.

At 4:00pm and 4:45pm, Johnson Controls will host exclusive tours for a limited number of event attendees of their worldwide Headquarters for their Building Efficiency division; a structure that was once considered a “skyscraper” in 1901 at eight stories tall. The tour begins in the lobby where one can read about why the 1895 “Johnson System of Temperature Regulation” was named a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

The tour will then walk through the executive offices and show where the founder, Warren Johnson, had his office. Another feature of the tour will be the Building Operations Center (BOC), where one will see how the most advanced Johnson Controls control systems and security technologies are being used to make the building energy efficient, productive and safe for employees. The tour will also include a visit through the Customer Showcase and the Johnson Controls archives, where one can see a historical display from the company’s early days. Tour participants will also learn about how the facility became one of the first LEED-certified buildings in the world.

Other highlights of the evening include: art and history tours of the Pfister, a silent auction, hor d’oeuvres reception, an audio-visual presentation and guest speaker Dave Myers, President of Building Efficiency at Johnson Controls.
