Wisconsin Better Business Bureau: Names statewide ethics award finalists

Milwaukee, Wis. – The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin is pleased to announce that 12 companies and two charities have been named as finalists for the prestigious 2010 Business Ethics Torch Awards.

The finalists are (in alphabetical order): Allrite Home & Remodeling, Milwaukee; Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin; Bergstrom Automotive, Neenah; Cobblestone Builders, Menomonee Falls; David Hobbs Honda, Glendale; Ellenbecker Investment Group, Pewaukee; Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Milwaukee; Feldco Windows, Siding & Doors, West Allis; Kyle Financial Services, Milwaukee; Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Milwaukee; The Benefit Services Group, Pewaukee; The Starr Group, Greenfield; Tri-North Builders, Fitchburg; We Energies, Milwaukee.

The BBB’s Business Ethics Torch Award is a statewide competition that honors companies and charities who demonstrate excellence in ethical practices, service excellence, reputation, honest advertising, peer recognition, management practices and employee training in ethical behavior. The award program was started seven years ago by the Wisconsin BBB, a non-profit organization. Awards will be given in these categories, based on the size of the organization: 1-5 employees; 6-50 employees; 51-500 employees; 501 or more employees; and charity.

Randall Hoth, Wisconsin BBB president/CEO said, “This is an impressive group of finalists, which represent a variety of industries and regions in Wisconsin. All of these organizations deserve to be honored for their outstanding business practices, ethics and integrity. The BBB congratulates all of them.”

Winners will be announced at the BBB’s 8th annual Torch Awards Banquet on Wednesday, October 13th at the historic Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. Robert W. Baird President/CEO Paul Purcell is the keynote speaker.

The event is preceded by the Ethics & Integrity Leadership Summit, a series of workshops designed to help businesses with ethical challenges. The summit begins at 8:30 am, followed by the luncheon and awards ceremony at noon. The cost for the luncheon is $50 for either the luncheon or summit, or $85 for both.
