WASHINGTON, DC – Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and John Goss, the recently appointed Asian Carp Director at CEQ, will join other Obama Administration officials for a meeting on Asian carp with Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and representatives from the States of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, New York and Minnesota. The meeting will take place in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House Complex at 10:30 AM.

The Federal officials attending the meeting include representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Transportation, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Many of the Federal officials participating are also members of the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC), which is a team of Federal, state and local agencies working together to prevent Asian carp from establishing populations in the Great Lakes. The Asian Carp Control Strategy Framework, released by the RCC in February, 2010, and updated in May, 2010, unifies Federal, state and local action in an unparalleled effort to combat invasive species.
