Madison, WI – May 7-9th The greater Madison area welcomes the 2010 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships teams from across the nation to ride the world-class courses in and around the greater Madison area.

Madison’s consistent recognition for its biking atmosphere and over 148-miles of biking routes and trails within Dane County creates the perfect environment for the leisure or competitive biking enthusiast. Madison was recently ranked #7 Most Bike-Friendly City in America by Bicycling Magazine (April 2010).

The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau counts the annual Ford Ironman WI, USA Cycling’s 2010 Collegiate Road National Championships and North American Sports’ 2010 Centurion Cycling among the successful biking events they have brought to the area.

The USA Cycling 2010 Collegiate Road National Championships is expected to bring over 500 attendees with an estimated direct spending impact of $112,900 into the greater Madison area.

USA Cycling refers to the Collegiate Road National Championships as “the crown jewel of collegiate cycling”. The event features three distinct components for the men’s and women’s race schedule.

* Friday, May 7th, the Road Races commence with a men’s 72 mile and women’s 58 mile course beginning and ending at Blue Mounds State Park.

* Saturday, May 8th the Criterium course encompasses the Capitol Square as its race course with the women’s 45 minute race starting at 3:00pm and the men’s 60 minute divisions starting at 5:00pm.

* Sunday, May 9th, the men’s and women’s Team Time Trials, both 19.2 miles in length, will start and finish at the Trek World Headquarters and Factory in Waterloo, WI.

* Sunday, May 9th, Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center will host the Collegiate Road Nationals Award Banquet.
