KENOSHA, Wis. – (May 6, 2010) – For the second consecutive year, Riley Construction sits atop Midwest Construction magazine’s Top Manufacturing Contractors as No. 1 for 2010, as reported in the publication’s annual Top Contractors survey. The rankings may be found online at:

http://midwest.construction.com/midwest_top_lists_construction_firms/2010/TopContractors/001-100.asp Just over 20% of Riley Construction’s 2009 volume was comprised of manufacturing-related projects. This is attributed to projects for Abbott, Abbott Park, Ill.; SC Johnson, Racine, Wis.; Diversey Inc., Sturtevant, Wis.; Quad/Graphics, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and Birchwood Foods, Kenosha, Wis.

“Manufacturers throughout the Midwest had a tough 2009. The volume of work reported among the top 15 contractors from the 2009 to 2010 lists dropped by over $430 million, or a decline of just about 78%,” said Matt Prince, Riley Construction’s vice president of operations. “It was through our established relationships and Riley’s demonstrated financial stability that led our clients to entrust us to deliver several significant projects despite the dramatic downturn in manufacturing construction.”

Riley Construction had a strong showing in other market sector categories, including No. 11 in Government Building and No. 18 in Healthcare/Hospital. Over 50% of Riley’s revenue was comprised of healthcare construction, including major projects like the $60 million St. Catherine’s Medical Center expansion project in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., as well as significant projects at the Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion, Ill.; Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Franklin, Franklin, Wis.; and Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, Ill. Projects like the Kenosha County Public Safety Building, Kenosha, Wis.; Racine County Correctional Food Production Facility, Sturtevant, Wis.; and the new Skokie Police Department, Skokie, Ill.; helped to elevate Riley to rest among the elite in government/municipal construction.

Overall, Riley Construction was ranked No. 53 among the top 125 Midwest contractors, while ranking No. 12 with the top 25 Wisconsin contractors.

Midwest Construction’s annual Top Contractors listing is compiled based on feedback from the top construction services companies in Illinois, Indiana, Eastern Missouri and Wisconsin.
