MADISON—Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Village of Livingston, Grant County, has received a $300,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to help improve the village’s water system.

“My administration is committed to investing in local development projects and helping our communities continue moving forward,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased the state could provide assistance to help the Village of Livingston undertake this important project to improve their water system.”

Since taking office in 2003, Governor Doyle has worked aggressively to help grow Wisconsin’s economy, help businesses create and retain jobs, and position the state for future growth. Governor Doyle’s budget last year created some of the strongest economic development tools in the nation to help businesses create jobs and get people back to work. Wisconsin now has powerful new tax credits to help manufacturers create and retain jobs, new tools to help investors create start-ups, and new incentives to spur research and development.

The Village of Livingston will install an additional municipal well on the west side of town and expand the sanitary sewer system. The improvement of the system will increase water flow and allow better fire protection for the residents and businesses in the community. Total project cost is $600,000.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
