West Bend, WI ( April 13, 2010) – The West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club came together recently to envision what the club would like to accomplish in the next five years in this community and communities around the world. During a four-hour session with three facilitators that came to assist the club, the members worked on seeing the future in areas such as community service, vocational service (high ethical standards) and international service. International service covers not only accomplishing projects in other parts of the world, but also brings the world to our community.

Some of the projects that the club will create 5-year plans to accomplish include seeking a long-term signature project, growing the size of the club, and hosting at least one in-bound international student annually. The club is actively seeking thoses in the West Bend community who may be interested in serving as a host families for itnernational students; and itnerested parties may contact Jeff Lambie at 262-338-2221 for further information.

West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club is active in the local community. Recent and current projects of the club include major sponsorship of the barn renovation at Lac Lawrann Nature Conservancy and major sponsorship of the new entertainment area at Regner Park. West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club also joined with the three other Rotary Clubs in Washington County in leadership of the Enchantment in the Park holiday light show to benefit the Washington County Food Pantries. West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club founded and leads the Kettle Moraine Jazz Festival held the weekend following Labor Day as a major fundraiser each year. Dates for this year’s event are September 10 and 11. The Sunrise Rotary Club also holds a $15,000 Give-Away event annually to benefit local nonprofit organizations. The Give-Away will be held this year on May 6 to benefit the James Albrecht Free Clinic. Tickets for the Give-Away event, being held at the West Bend Mutual Prairie Center, are available from West Bend Sunrise Rotary club members.

Originally chartered in 1990, West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club meets weekly for fellowship, breakfast, and informative and interesting presentations from a guest speakers every Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. at the Top of the Ridge Restaurant in West Bend. The Club’s major fundraiser each year is the Kettle Moraine Jazz Festival which is held on the Friday and Saturday following Labor Day at Riverside Park in West Bend. Monies raised through this event are managed through the Sunrise Rotary Foundation, and have been used to fund such projects as the West Bend Fire Department mobile Fire Safety House, the West Bend Sunrise Rotary Baseball Field at Riverside Park, and the entertainment area at Regner Park.
