Wisconsin Potato Easter Recipe Winners Announced

Antigo, WI — March 18, 2010 — Potatoes are usually part of the main course during a traditional Easter dinner, but it was Shelly Fisher’s untraditional use of spuds that earned her first place in the Easter Recipe contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA). Fisher, of Hermiston, Oregon will be awarded a $150 gift card for her unique Spud Candy Brownies recipe.

“I’ve been working on this for more than a year,” explains Fisher. “The filling is a twist from an old home economics recipe for potato candy, combined with a brownie recipe.” The result is a rich chocolate dessert.

Katie Rush of Kansas City, Missouri earned a $100 gift card as second place winner with her recipe for “Potato Zucchini Gallete.” Trisha Kruse of Eagle, Idaho won a $50 gift card for her “Honey Roasted Easter Red Potatoes” recipe, which placed third. All three winning recipes, as well as winning recipes and submissions from past contests, are featured at WinWithWisconsinPotatoes.com .

The WPVGA is currently accepting potato recipes for its Summer recipe contest. Contestants may enter at WinWithWisconsinPotatoes.com for the chance to win one of three top prizes. The contest ends April 30, 2010. Winners will be announced May 17, 2010.
