(Madison, WI) 5Nines Data LLC, Madison’s first downtown commercial data center, is planning its grand opening in July. Over a year and half since its conception, the center will complete its phase one infrastructure build out by the end of this month. The installation of an independent, 20-ton air conditioning system and a 30 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system connected to MG&E’s downtown dual power grid was completed this week. Additionally, phase one security and surveillance system installations have been completed. Topping off the work at hand is the installation of a redundant Cisco router, which upgrades 5Nines’ internet circuit to Norlight Telecommunications, which goes live on June 20th.

According to 5Nines CEO Todd Streicher, “The strategic partnership with Norlight is a huge advantage for us in the market place. Our data center being only a wall away from Norlight’s Madison point of presence (POP) gives us the ability to offer internet services for less than any other data center in the area. With Norlight’s SONET ring infrastructure and OC192 capacity we are able to provide our clients with redundant routes to the internet with unparalleled bandwidth and speed.”

Located in the recently renovated Network 222 building, just off the square at 222 West Washington Avenue, 5Nines is ideally located to provide data services to all downtown businesses. Previously the data center for Alliant Energy, who formerly occupied the entire building, the facility was ready with basic features and the building was wired with fiber optic connectivity throughout. Last year, 5Nines began providing co-location, web hosting, and internet services to tenants in the building. It has also branched out of the building, providing internet services to the Fiore Companies Inntowner Hotel on University Ave., and has recently penned an agreement with law firm Stafford Rosenbaum to provide internet services to their offices in the Tenney building on the opposite side of the Capital square.

However, 5Nines services are not just aimed locally. With the recent investment in equipment and technical infrastructure, 5Nines is poised and ready to serve a much larger market. The center is positioning itself as a disaster recovery hot-site and web application provider hotbed with potential clients throughout the nation. According to Streicher, “Our network connectivity to Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee and beyond offers us tremendous market opportunity for delivering data centric services.”

5Nines is owned and operated by Matador Consulting LLC a Madison based IT service provider that specializes in technology consulting, including Oracle database, application programming, and desktop solutions and services. Matador sees the data center as a strategic step in its mission to provide low cost and high performance services to meet its clients’ business needs. Visit www.5ninesdata.com for more information.
