MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle announced today a series of events at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Governor Doyle will join a delegation of leaders in Copenhagen from December 14-18, 2009, including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Washington Governor Chris Gregoire, Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger, Quebec Premier Jean Charest, South Australia Premier Mike Rann, and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

“With a global focus on climate change, Wisconsin is well positioned to become a worldwide leader in a clean energy economy,” Governor Doyle said. ”We’re using our traditional manufacturing base to build a world leading green industry – conducting research, focusing on high end, green manufacturing and creating jobs while taking on the challenges of climate change. We’re making Wisconsin the place to do business in a clean energy economy.”

At the conference, Governor Doyle will showcase Wisconsin as a leader in clean-energy jobs, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. On Thursday, December 17, Governor Doyle will offer remarks at an event at the U.S. Center entitled “Leadership and Innovation by States and Tribes in the U.S.” The event provides an important opportunity to discuss the state’s work to build a clean energy economy and create jobs.
