To meet with Mayor of Dubuque and tour John Deere Plant

La Crosse, WI – State Senator Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) along with Senator Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center) and Lancaster Mayor, Jerry Wehrle, will be traveling to Dubuque, Iowa, tomorrow to meet with Mayor Roy Buol and City Administrator Michael Van Milligen in an effort to examine how their city has garnered recent job growth and to tour the John Deere Dubuque Plant.

“This visit is the result of a recent meeting I had with members of the Southwest Wisconsin Government Affairs Coalition in Madison,” says Kapanke. “Where we agreed that there is a clear need for a collaborative effort among counties and states to propel economic development and growth. Our economic climate remains grim, which is why it is more imperative than ever that Wisconsin look for insight and innovative job-producing ideas from surrounding states.”

“IBM is in the process of opening a new technology service delivery center in Dubuque which is expected to create up to 1,400 jobs. The goal in this visit is to examine why Dubuque’s economic environment is more conducive to growing businesses such as IBM and to find ways in which Wisconsin’s business environment can be channeled to attract job growth.”
