MADISON, Wis. – April 10, 2009 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, would like to remind customers that this is a very busy time of the year. It’s prime season for questions about payment arrangements, construction, starting and stopping service and much more. We apologize for any delays; however we take great pride in working with each and every customer that calls to ensure they get what they need.

“For routine transactions, customers may want to choose from one of our many convenient self-serve options to pay bills, set up their account or to look at a current or past bill” says Julie Bauer, Director of Customer Service for Alliant Energy. “We are in our busiest time of year and call volume is high, we want to make sure customers know there are other options available to help manage their accounts”

When customer hold times exceed two minutes, customers may use our efficient callback technology. They can select the option for the system to call them back when it is their turn, or can schedule a return call during hours that are more convenient for them. Our customers’ time is valuable; therefore we have provided numerous self service options so customers can manage their account at their convenience. For safety reasons, this call back feature is not available for life threatening emergencies; those calls go directly to a customer service representative.

Self-service options are available anytime online at alliantenergy.com or by phone at 1-800-ALLIANT (1-800-255-4268). You can make a payment, report an outage and retrieve account information. Plus, there are many more options available at alliantenergy.com .
