U.S. Census Report on Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance to Be Released Next Week, Heartland Alliance to Follow With Analysis of Findings in Midwest

Poverty Expert Available for Immediate Comment

WHAT: The U.S. Census Bureau will release its annual income estimates, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage numbers from the American Community Survey and Current Population Survey for the year 2007 on Tuesday, August 26. The Heartland Alliance Mid-America Institute on Poverty will produce specific local and regional fact sheets and provide analysis on the data, trends, and their implications.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 26 and Wednesday, August 27 experts on poverty issues from Heartland Alliance will provide analysis of the data and be available for comment.

DETAILS: Heartland Alliance will post fact sheets and analysis for the select Midwest states and the U.S. as they are completed at http://www.heartlandalliance.org/maip/censusrelease08.html. Specific states covered include:

— Illinois
— Indiana
— Iowa
— Michigan
— Minnesota
— Missouri
— Ohio
— Wisconsin

Data for key cities and counties within these states will also be available.
