RF Technologies Sponsors Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course for OB Nurses

Experts available to discuss course at AWHONN Convention in Los Angeles

BROOKFIELD, Wis., June 11 /PRNewswire/ — RF Technologies(R), a leading provider of radio frequency identification monitoring systems — including the Safe Place(R) Infant Security Solution — is sponsoring a new training course on clinical safety. Following the guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association, the course certifies nurses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support specific to pregnant or newly delivered patients. RF Technologies will be at the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Convention in Los Angeles, June 21-24 to discuss this course.

“We’re pleased to sponsor the ACLS OB course. It offers nurses the support they need to provide the best possible care to their patients,” said Leslie Roste, Clinical Product and Education Director at RF Technologies. “With our experience in infant safety and clinical support services, our goal is to ensure that proper training is available for OB nurses.”

Important course developed with requirements in mind

In 2009, all OB nurses will need to be certified in ACLS. This course satisfies this requirement and is more pertinent for OB nurses as it was developed with them in mind. Upon completion of the two-day provider course, a nurse is certified and receives an AHA ACLS Provider Card. In addition, continuing education credits are awarded. A third day of training is available, which prepares new instructor candidates to teach the ACLS OB course. RF Technologies is partnering with the clinical instruction team from St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center of Boise, Idaho, to provide the content and perform the actual training.

“I greatly value RF Technologies’ insight in providing this wonderful opportunity for other nurses and me,” stated Carolyn Ouellette, RN, BSN, at Western Missouri Medical Center, who completed the ACLS OB course at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. “The ACLS OB course has given us the ability to give quality and updated nursing care that is specific to our clinical areas. RF Technologies has made a big impact not only on our patients, but also on me as a nurse.”

Experts available at AWHONN Convention

RF Technologies will be on-site at the AWHONN Convention to review ACLS OB courses. They will appear at RF Technologies booth number 441 to discuss how hospitals can implement their program. The next of RF Technologies’ ACLS OB courses will be held on August 12-14, and will be hosted by Waukesha Memorial Hospital ProHealth Care in Waukesha, Wis.

“Our involvement in the ACLS OB course demonstrates our commitment to going beyond offering technologies that create solutions for the healthcare industry; we also care about the clinical services being delivered,” said Roste. “By sponsoring this course, we’re ensuring infants and mothers receive the best cardiac care.”
